Privacy window film offers many advantages over traditional window cures but primarily and most important, functionally, it provides a sense of security without sacrificing the aesthetic.
The days of the Venetian blind are over; those dust gathering, cord snagging, disjointed and easily broken archaic relics are being replaced in buildings worldwide with something much simpler, user friendly, cost effective and aesthetically pleasing – privacy window film.
There are a multitude of films from complete blackout to those that let in the light but obstruct the view from outside-in to films that are completely mirrrored and those that work only one-way. The choice is boundless and ultimately, the choice is yours.
For interiors, the most plausible options and the most popular choices are for frosted window film. These allow for privacy and security in an office setting and can be adjusted to fit all or part of the window or glass doors that you feel needs obstructing. Meeting rooms can be completely private or, you can have just a strip so that people know someone is there, but the overall view of the room and the people inside is obstructed.
There are decorative and gradient films that can do the job too if aesthetics are important. 3M make a multitude of different styles and Eco Glass, as a 3M Authorised Appicator can help you choose which one suits you and your workspace best.

Many people are also looking for innovative ways to be seen but not be seen. An anomoly yes, but Window Vision film which is able to have graphics printed on allows for total privacy on the inside whilst your message can be conveyed to those outside. Whilst they see your message, they can’t see you. Just think about the adverts on the bus and how they cover the windows. You can see the ad, but you can’t see the passengers – this works the same way and is a great marketing tool for the outside windows of your office and also allows for total privacy on the inside too.
For daytime privacy, a reflective or mirror film is an excellent choice. It offers money-saving value because it does just what its name suggests: It sends back most of the sun’s UV rays and reduces heat. Films with a higher visible reflectance will produce a mirrored effect viewed from outdoors while you are able to see out from inside. It is ideal for commercial business applications and gives a modern, clean look to windows. Note that at night, the opposite is true. Those outside can see in, but those inside cannot see out.
The best results for home privacy is a film called 3M Night Vision. This privacy film has it all – ultraviolet blocking, infrared blocking, heat, glare and sun control and of course, privacy. With all window films however, it also only offers privacy when its lighter outside than it is inside, but the properties of Night Vision, especially the “15” and the “25” ranges offer excellent privacy on any floor of any room of your home.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. Your options really boil down to the following:
· Translucent film that lets diffused light into a room while enhancing privacy.
· Decorative window film that breathes new life into old or rundown windows.
· Reflective window film that gives UV-protection.
· Perforated window film that provides security after sundown.
